Renovating an upper duplex unit

July 11, 2015

Hey y’all! It’s been awhile, but we’ve been hard at work renovating the “new duplex” upper unit. Here are some super sexy (not) pics from before we had done much.

It may look like a total gut job, but if you are able to look past the extreme paint colors, you’ll notice a lot of nice features.

-the cabinet are well built and a nice flat panel style. Instead of ripping them out, why not refinish them?

-the funky flooring in the blue living room is actually kinda cool, and it’s super durable. Perfect for tenants. I decided to let it influence the style for the whole unit.

-some wood floors in the bedrooms. With a quick refinishing these will shine, I just wish they were throughout the unit

So far, we’ve ripped apart the bathroom, painted all of the trim black since it was all mismatched, started refinishing the cabinets black, and ripped up some of that disgusting red flooring. More to come soon!

Also, we worked on the landscaping (ok that was all Eric) a bit to give the place some curb appeal. For rentals, you don’t want anything too maintenance intensive, so some low maintenance plants and rock with edger works perfectly. It’s still going to take some weed spraying, but nothing day to say.
